At the department of education students with 'education' as a principal subject can obtain the final certificate Bachelor of Arts (http://www.studying.uni-mainz.de/educationial-science-b-a/) and Master of Arts (http://www.studying.uni-mainz.de/educational-science-m-a/).

The department also offers courses for teacher students and students of other Master courses who study education as a subsidiary subject.

Students can choose one of the following specializations with the aim of gaining professional qualification:

Winter-Term: End of October until end of February
Summer-Term: End of April until end of July

Students who want to participate in the ERASMUS program at Mainz University should plan their stay for a term (Semester) period.
Internships/placements (upon agreement with the coordinators) are possible every time of the year. Regular supervision by staff members, though, cannot be guaranteed except during semester terms.

ERASMUS-students can participate in the regular courses of the department as well as in special courses for ERASMUS-students, depending on their individual skills and interests (see information at http://www.uni-mainz.de).

Sufficient German language skills are essential. The department offers a ERASMUS-Colloquium during terms; participation of all foreign and German ERASMUS students is required.

Foreign ERASMUS-students can undergo examinations in Mainz, upon agreement with the responsible staff of their home universities; these examinations can be endorsed, upon agreement, at their home universities. All achievements and results will be certified, the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is installed at the department of education.

-

Sufficient German language skills provided, internships can be done in all institutions accessible to German students. The departments internship office has information about placements and can help with the selection of placements and contacts. Preferences should be communicated early before the ERASMUS stay.

-

Supervision during internship cannot be guaranteed; a continuous guidance and evaluation of the internship is intended, though.
